DESIGNING THE FUTURE

Thanks to everyone who helped set up and run our office live-streams of the national Designing the Future event, as well as all those who came to the iconic Royal Institution in London. The evening was hosted by the brilliant Robert Llewellyn and featured a series of interactive Christmas-lectures-style lectures followed by conversation and debate… in our offices, pizza, snacks and drinks were aplenty!

Here's a video of the night, for those who missed it or want to watch it again.

MAN-CHESS-TER

Our Manchester office recently hosted a “Classic Games Night”. Throwing it back to the ‘90s, they had a variety of video games set up in all the meeting rooms. A Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros showdown formed the first part of the “inter-office tournament” that will continue throughout the year.

GLAS-GO, GO, GO

The Scottish office’s running club is going well. They have signed up to the Glasgow 10k to raise money and awareness for Barnardo’s. Their team average for a 5k is 36 mins.

PUT THE PUPPY ON THE PARTNER

In December, Bournemouth hosted a quiz and pizza evening. The toughest questions were trying to guess which partner had which pet. The results are also in for Bournemouth’s fiercely competitive pool competition.Brian Farrington was the winner (much to Mark’s disappointment!).

DAVE'S DIP

Dave Hayes has started the year off with some very fresh lunchtime swims, just a stone’s throw from the Plymouth office. When the weather is this glorious, why not? However, his support team were keen to watch from the warmer shores and intend to paddle to knee depth in the Spring.

TIMM'S TO-DO LIST

In order to raise money for the RNLI, Steve Timms has challenged himself to complete the following events this year: the Portland Coastal Half Trail Marathon, the East Meets West Full Trail Marathon, climbing Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and the Jurassic Ultra Trail Marathon. He is currently in intensive training and his hard work is evident. In the Portland Half, he came 49th out of 188 competitors.

BUSINESS FIVES

Our Bristol office recently took part in a 5-a-side football tournament in support of their chosen charity, Caring in Bristol. They couldn’t come home with the win, but made the semi-final. A great effort by all.

WHITE COLLAR BOXING

Our Plymouth office’s chosen charity, Hugs from Henry, is hosting a white-collar boxing event in May. The fantastic Nick ‘Left-hook’ Harrison has stepped forward to take part. Nick has started his 12-week training programme and is absolutely loving it… literally, blood, sweat and tears.

LET'S GET DOWN TO FRIS-NESS

In ultimate frisbee news, Amelia Durbin (no relation) and Saskia Kantorowicz from our Bristol office won bronze with the Bristol Women team at ultimate frisbee club indoor nationals.

IT'S TIME TO TALK

In support of Time to Talk day on 6 February, many of us took time out to enjoy a cuppa, some cake and chat. Little sessions like this are incredibly beneficial to all of us as talking is so important.

Our Birmingham office raised a total of £148.22 that will be donated to Shaw Mind Foundation, and gave Jenny Priest a plant for recognition of her effort organising the event and raising awareness of mental health. Thank you everyone for your donations and for those who baked the amazing cakes.
