Project spotlight: Nightingale hospitals.

The rapid design and construction of the UK’s Nightingale field hospitals and step-down facilities has been a truly monumental effort by our industry. We’re immensely proud to have been able to do our bit supporting their delivery.

On the majority of the schemes, we have taken the MEP designer role (with Fire Engineering advice), while on others we have provided ‘design and validation’ services; essentially giving a fresh set of eyes to the designs. Working alongside members of the armed forces, the NHS and main contractors, we have become the ‘go-to’ MEP consultants for these projects, due to our sector experience, knowledge and resource to deliver these facilities.

We are working at the following hospitals with confirmed locations: ExCeL – London: support from our Birmingham, London and Manchester offices NEC – Birmingham: support from our Birmingham office (video of construction) Principality Stadium – Cardiff: support from our Cardiff office UWE – Bristol: support from our Bristol office Bay Studios – Swansea: support from our Cardiff office (video of construction)

We will also be working on hospitals in these areas: Liverpool Plymouth North London Nottingham

We’ve also been involved with the Anne McLaren Building, which has been fitted out for testing during the pandemic. This research lab completed in 2019 and we originally worked on it as M&E Compliance managers for the University of Cambridge.

We were called back to provide M&E advice to the University during the fit out, which was delivered in a week!

A heartfelt thank you to all those involved in these projects and, most importantly, to the incredible NHS workers across the UK.
