DIGITAL LOVE

Well done to our IT and Digital teams for their incredible work getting us up and running while we all work from home. We’ve deployed an additional VPN, doubled our internet bandwidth, started to rollout Microsoft Teams, moved emails to Office 365, and provided ways for people to access BIM from home, through remote desktops, Azure Virtual machines, Citrix and BIM360. To top it off, the IT service desk has been open every day since 23 March, including weekends and bank holidays, dealing with twice the usual number of requests.

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR PARTNER?

During the first week of lockdown, Manchester had a “Mr & Mrs” style game to keep spirits high. They asked some of the office’s ‘big-wigs’ some questions about themselves and then as teams everyone had to guess who would say what.

Many of our offices took part in a ‘digital sweepstake’ on the Grand National. Whilst no real horses ran, a CGI race took place. Bookmakers offered fixed odds markets to a maximum stake of £10 each-way, with all the proceeds donated to the NHS Charities Together organisation. Congratulations to those who won with the horse ‘Potter’s Corner.’

3D PRINTING

Jamie Higgins has been using his own 3D printer to produce Covid-19 face shields. His trial of 10 went well, and now he is hoping to get to 100 over the next 2 weeks and has coordinated with Crowd UK who are fulfilling 400,000 orders across the UK. The group has shipped 40,000 this past week and has raised more than £100,000 to help with material costs and logistics to meet the demand. You can help the cause here.
