The challenge: To replace the existing hospital (making efficient use of a constrained site) with a 646-bed, state-of-the-art high-rise including 40-bed critical care unit, 18 operating theatres and large emergency department, plus underground car park, good public transport links, dedicated cycle centre and electric car charging points.
